Acoustic Curtains and Blinds

We provide acoustic curtains and blinds to businesses throughout WA. We are proud to have the West Australian exclusive distribution rights for Acoustic Blinds and Curtains – the clear leaders in acoustic fabrics.

These fabrics are scientifically designed to reduce noise and absorb sound. These are the only window furnishings that are designed, tested and proven to reduce noise and absorb sound.

If outside noise is a problem, these special fabrics can help. Likewise, if a meeting room is echoey then these fabrics will deliver a more acoustically pleasant environment. Acoustic Curtains are also great for being used as room dividers in a workplace.

Whilst the specific results differ depending on the sound issue, room configuration, solution used and installation we have been installing acoustic curtains which have helped with a range of scenarios like the noise of a neighbour’s barking dog, vehicle and pedestrian traffic, being under a flight path, noise from an entertainment district, trains as well as simply providing workplace meeting and board rooms with less echo and more speech audibility.

These premium fabrics carry a significantly higher price than normal curtain and blind fabrics. We also can not guarantee acoustic results because every environment is different and results will vary.

The Science

Commercial Acoustic Curtains and Blinds solve two problems:

  1. Noise Reduction – educing the amount of outside noise coming in
  2. Sound absorption – reducing reverberant sound in a space (commonly referred to as ‘echo’)

Acoustic curtain fabrics work by sound absorption and insulation properties. The fabric is specially designed to absorb sound waves. This absorption process helps to reduce the intensity and impact of sound, resulting in a quieter environment.

Acoustic curtains are most effective against louder (high decibel) sounds vs. quiet (low decibel) sounds. They are least effective against ‘impulse’ sound, instantaneous sharp sounds e.g. a dog barking, and most effective against constant noise e.g. traffic. They are least effective against low frequency sounds e.g. bass sounds, trucks, and most effective against high frequency sounds e.g. city noise

Sound absorption is measured by the noise reduction coefficient (NRC). It is represented by a value between 0 and 1, with higher values indicating better sound absorption. We offer a range of acoustic fabrics, all with differing sound absorption coefficients, and some reaching up to 0.85 NRC.

Noise reduction is measured by the Sound Reduction Index and Sound Level Difference. Our fabrics can achieve an 8dB Sound Reduction Difference and a 10dB Sound Level Difference, however specially made ‘WorkWell’ curtains can achieve 19dB (Dw).

Acoustic Blockout Curtains

These thick heavy curtains will help blockout external noise and provide a more peaceful environment. In addition, they will blockout light and regulate temperatures with their inherent thermal properties.

Acoustic Sheer Curtains

These smooth flowing acoustic curtains are perfect for improving internal acoustics.

Sound Absorption: They offer a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of  0.65.

Motorised Acoustic Curtains

Our acoustic curtains and blinds can motorised and/or automated.

This is the ultimate in convenience and the opening and closing is controlled electronically, either from a controller, a switch on the wall or fully automated as part of a home automation smart system, and therefore controllable by voice and/or your smart phone.

Motorised acoustic curtains are blinds offers numerous advantages, but especially so with large windows, or out of the way inaccessible windows, where pulling them open or closed could be a struggle.
